The grant will go toward student bursaries and will support 8 new students per academic year from 2025/26 until 2027/28. They will receive £5,000 each per year to support their training, for the duration of their time at LSC.
The Leverhulme Trust is an independent charity with a mission to fund important and innovative research, as well as to support the fine and performing arts. The Art Scholarship Bursaries for Undergraduates and Postgraduates offered by the Trust, as stated on the Leverhulme website, are “For specialist arts institutions or registered charities to provide support to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students across the fine and performing arts, including (but not exclusively) music, drama, dance, film, fine art, etc.”
This latest grant is the latest in several decades worth of support that LSC has gratefully received from the Leverhulme Trust. Some notable alumni who were Leverhulme scholars include Zizi Strallen, Sam Rodulfo, Ivan Delgado, Kane Walcott, Aisha Numah, Isaac Edwards, Faye Stoeser, Magnus Einang, Eldar Groisman, Chantel Spiteri and Oz Morag and Andre Kamienski.
